Best Lakes in Kansas City

Lake Jacomo

With more than 60 available watercraft, the Lake Jacomo Marina is the largest boat rental facility in the Kansas City Metro area. The marina provides concessions, lakeside gasoline, tackle, bait, dock fishing and three boat ramps for easy access. If you’re a fishing fan, you’ll delight in the crappie, bluegill, largemouth bass, carp, catfish, hybrid striped bass and walleye that abound in Jacomo’s still waters.

The Lake Jacomo area also features 57 campsites, 14 picnic shelters, 6 hiking trails, a Native Hooved Animal Enclosure home to bison and elk, and Missouri Town 1855, a living history museum depicting life on the Missouri frontier in the mid-19th century.

“Whatever activity you choose, our top notch staff will ensure that you MAKE YOUR DAY in our Jackson County Parks,” said Director Michele Newman.

Lake Jacomo is one of four lakes and 15 parks that are managed by Jackson County Parks + Rec. With just over 22,000 acres, Jackson County Parks + Rec is the third largest county park system in the country, attracting over 1.4 million visitors each year.
